ECOLOGICAL SANITATION UNIT

Our Ecological Sanitation Unit offers pest control services for a wide range of harmful organisms that threaten human health, cause economic damage, or reduce quality of life.

Our company was founded back in 1947, primarily to provide pest control and sanitation services in the Croatian Littoral and Istria. We began operations with six employees and simple equipment, and acquired our first vehicle in 1948. Dezinsekcija Rijeka was first mentioned in the European Shipping Bulletin in 1953 as a company providing ship sanitation services in the Port of Rijeka.

With Rijeka’s development and its increasing industrialization, the demand for pest control and sanitation services grew – and our company expanded as well. By the end of 1960, we began to provide fumigation services for cargo in the Port of Rijeka (tobacco, coffee, peanuts, grains, etc.).


In 1970, we launched a new service – plant protection and vegetation control. Soon after, we introduced our own innovation, called Nuvatret. It is an automated system for the continuous application of grain disinfestation agents in silos.

In 1980, we became the first company in Croatia to offer systematic preventive pest control services with the aim of protecting the population from infectious diseases. Our Ecological Sanitation Unit continues to develop – we consistently invest in the acquisition of specialized equipment and environmentally friendly products, as well as in the training of our employees. We also apply the latest scientific findings in our work and use the most modern methods of pest control.

PEST CONTROL DEPARTMENT

Our Pest Control Department offers the following services:


  • DISINFECTION - treatment of outdoor surfaces and all types of facilities
  • INSECT CONTROL - control of cockroaches, flies, ants, mosquitoes, bedbugs, mites, fleas, and gnats
  • RODENT CONTROL - control of rats, mice, and mouse-like rodents
  • Pest control by FUMIGATION (SPECIAL SERVICES) and/or HEATH TREATMENT
  • Disinfection of water supply systems in hotels, campsites, marinas (and similar facilities); epidemic control disinfection of hot and cold water supply systems due to the presence of Legionella spp. bacteria
  • Odour removal in outdoor surfaces and all types of facilities
  • Treatment of surfaces and facilities following organic contamination
  • Implementation of industrial dust control technologies in production facilities, construction sites, cargo handling terminals, etc.
  • Implementation of odour control technologies in municipal waste collection systems (containers, trucks, etc.), waste treatment facilities, and all types of premises where unpleasant odours occur - SPECIAL SERVICES.

We provide disinfestation and disinfection services in residential and commercial facilities (office, storage, and industrial production facilities), in public areas (institutions, parks, bathing areas), on transport infrastructure, and in means of transportation. We also do post-season hotel maintenance and prepare facilities for the following tourist season.

PLANT PROTECTION DEPARTMENT

Our Plant Protection Department provides various services related to stored product protection, ornamental plant care and vegetation control. These include the following:


  • Control of pests in stored agricultural products (various types of grains and other commodities), including fumigation in silos, warehouses, ship holds, containers, railway wagons, trucks (and other means of transport), conveyor systems, mills and other processing facilities
  • Protection of ornamental plants against pathogens in all types of landscaped horticultural areas
  • Endotherapy (injection treatment) in the protection of ornamental plants against plant pathogens
  • Protection of lawns against plant pathogens and weed on sports grounds
  • Forest protection against plant pathogens
  • Protection of agricultural crops against plant pathogens in open fields and protected environments (greenhouses, glasshouses, etc.)
  • Vegetation control in non-agricultural areas (roads, walkways, paved surfaces, surroundings of tourist facilities, etc.) and industrial yards

We treat chestnut trees, pine trees, cypress trees, olive trees, and various other ornamental plants, and we also offer fertilization services for horticultural plants.
